Jessica Simpson is off the market!

Sources confirm to UsMagazine.com that the singer, 30, became engaged to beau Eric Johnson on Thursday, just days after Us broke the news that her ex-husband, Nick Lachey, popped the question to Vanessa Minnillo, his love of nearly five years. Simpson and Lachey, 37, split in 2005, after three years of marriage.

The singer's rep confirmed the couple's engagement to Us on Sunday.

On Saturday, Simpson flashed a sizable ring on her left hand during an appearance at Dillard's at Oak Park Mall in Kansas City.

The Texas native began dating the former NFL player in May while he was estranged from his first wife, stylist Keri Johnson; their divorce was finalized five months later.

"I met a wonderful man," Simpson tweeted of Johnson in September. "Damn, I'm lucky."

The newly engaged couple will spend Thanksgiving in NYC, where Simpson is scheduled to perform during Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.

"Having a boyfriend through the holidays, we're going to see how that all splits up," the singer told Ryan Seacrest during a KIIS-FM radio interview last week. "I can't imagine not being with my nephew and watching him open gifts. Maybe someone gets Christmas Eve and somebody gets Christmas day."

It's sad cause you know she only said yes since Nick's engaged.

She's looking chubby and rough. Her daddy must have paid this guy big bucks to propose to her.

    Oh Happy DAY!!!!!

How long have they been dating, five months? They barely know eachother! I highly doubt it's going to last. And they had to do it a few days after Nick and Vanessa announced their engagement? They couldn't let them have their moment? That's ridiculous.

My brother's ex got married after 6 months dating and has been married going on 7 years...different strokes for different folks! It's not like this is the first guy she has been with since her divorce (as many like to point out but in a negative way)...at least she played the field this time around. Frankly, I'm more worried about Nick who while technically dating Vanessa for a long time ONLY dated her after his marriage ended. And hooked up with someone who had been salivating over him even while he was married to Jessica. I think that's a little creepy in my opinion. To each their own. I hope they are both happy. Now if only Jennifer Aniston would settle down, we could end ANOTHER love triangle that no one seems capable of letting go of! :)

I hope Hollywood won't turn this guy into a loser like it did to Nick. Is this his 2nd or 3rd marriage? Whoever thought those two (Nick and Jessica) would ever get divorced? Fame is a home-wrecker and I hope the newly engaged will decide their future marriage is more important than looking good in tabloid material.

All the best to them both ... sometimes, when you meet the one you just know and other times it takes time to know ... Love the ring. They make a beautiful couple.

She has already had everybody on the block, this is the only guy that probably proposed to her. Everyone else got the milk for free.

Frankly, I can't even believe you people spend your time worrying OR commenting on all this CRAP! Celebrities...what a waste of time...WHO CARES!! She'll probably be divorced in another two or three years anyway. Lives of the rich and famous...what overly dramatic waste of time! I watch their movies (most of them suck, particularly in the last 5 years or so), and then I go on with life feeling like they don't deserve to make what they do and wish they would do something worth while in Hollywood, rather than put out crappy movies that aren't worth the gas consumed in going to see them, and gaining all sorts of publicity in their lives with BIG rings that really don't mean a THING at the end of the day, because VOWS really don't mean a thing to the rich and famous. Again, what a waste of time. You guys should find something with while to do with your time! This is the first time I've ever commented on one of these blogs, in my entire life. I can honestly say that I would be ashamed of myself if this is the way I chose to spend my time. Hey Jessica, good luck, but I'm sure I'll be reading about you again soon, in the divorce section...just like the rest of you clowns in Hollywood. What a JOKE!

    Congratulations, Jessica!

She's a desperate has-been, Nick is better off without her anyway. Hope the fat broad loses weight to fit in her wedding dress, HAHAHAHA!!!

  • November 14, 2010 - 6:55pm Andrea Maria Materka

Four days? Ok Carol you should just be quiet. That sounds weird and desperate!

  • November 14, 2010 - 6:38pm Elsa Caceres

if he was so interested in her?...why would it have to be the same time with her ex?

  • November 14, 2010 - 6:19pm Shannon Burmatoff

but shortly after Nick announced he was?

  • November 14, 2010 - 6:06pm Carol Ann Demetrio

Don't knock someone getting engaged after just 6 months. My hubby proposed to me after 4 days!! Yes, 4 days and I said yes and we married 14 months later. Now we have been married for 26 happy years and have a wonderful 20 year old son. It can happen if you meet the right person. I wish her the best and hope she will finally have her happy ending.

i am so happy for jessica simpson

  • November 14, 2010 - 4:14pm Rebecca Jones

It would have been a little classier and less desperate looking if they had waited until Christmas to get engaged, instead of a mere few days after the ex got engaged. Oh, well, that's HELLYWOOD for you.

  • November 14, 2010 - 4:13pm Laura Ð?лена Winston

Oh, come on, guys! Eric proposed to her, not the other way around. My parents only dated for four months before they eloped, and they were married for 40 years. Let the girl be happy for five minutes. Congratulations to Jessica!!
