Exclusive: Pal: Why Pete Wentz "Couldn't Trust" Ashlee Simpson

When the going gets tough, the tough go partying -- at least Ashlee Simpson does.
Although their Feb. 9 divorce announcement took many by surprise, pals close to Simpson and husband Pete Wentz tell the new Us Weekly that the spouses of nearly three years "have been talking about splitting up forever."

Simpson, 26, had coped in part with the impending split by having some late, late-night fun. "Ashlee has been out late partying for the past few months," says one insider. Specifically, the singer-actress -- and mom to son Bronx, 2 -- hangs with a crew of pro skateboarders in San Clemente, Calif., and returns home at sunrise.
"She would lose track of time," the insider says.

Fall Out Boy rocker Wentz, 31, "started getting burnt out" by those antics, another source says. On the road with his band, he "would constantly check in on Ashlee, and he'd have his friends call the house and her cell to make sure she said she was where she said she was going to be," an insider explains. "He felt like he couldn't trust her."

11If a mom is up all night while her child is sleeping, it means she is sleeping in the day when the child is awake and needs his mother and that is not ok, not cool. Time to grow up.

Poor Pete, then again he is in a band and he is gone all the time so we really don't know the truth. As a mom I dont believe in going out and hitting up the clubs. I'm only 24 and I had to grow up real early had my 1st at 17 and never went out partying . As a mom Ashlee needs to grow up, and she can't sing so she really needs to focus on her son.
Ah - let the mudslinging begin. Now that his side released this snippet, time for Ashley's daddy to get on the wires and do some of his PR. And for those of you saying that at least she's not out singing, she never has been - - - unless you call MilliVanilla-ing it singing. :D
Does everyone forget how much Pete has been away, living it up & partying long before Ash ever attempted being out. Come one people have a real look here.. He was in NYC.. Band home two days off with the guys to Dominican home a day gone to Dallas.. Its his life. They couldn't make it work & Ash needed more.. Pete is no friggin saint here & rumours have swirled a lot more with Pete then ever Ashlee... Then again this is US weekly & have a hate for anything Simpsons so go figure I wouldn't expect anything less from US mag.. Sounds like PR from Wentz. What he covering. ASH wants full custody of Bronx that must tell you whats really going on here.
Staying our all night is no big deal? Are you kidding me? Acceptable behavior once you are married, or even in a committed relationship, is quite different than for a single person with no attachments. Even more important than that, Ashlee is a mother and Bronx is supposed to come first. Being out more often than she was in was not putting the child first. And please don't anybody say there was a nanny or there was family. It's the responsibility of the parents, not the rest of the world, including extended family. If she had been touring, i.e. working, like Pete was doing, that would have been excusable, for Ashlee to party like she had no one but herself to worry about was beyond selfish. On a side note, Both Ashlee and Jessica need to learn how to tell their father to mind his own business. You can love your parents and the rest of your family, even seek their advice, but there have to be boundaries. Except in cases of abuse or bodily harm, and there was none of that for either of the Simpson girls, appropriate boundaries mean everybody outside of the husband and wife should stay out of a marriage.
so she hangs out with people and has fun SO? big deal shes not out doing drugs, getting drunk or anything like that. the girl is allowed to have some fun. hope these two have anice clean divorce no drama and custody battles and fights

When the trust is gone in a relationship, all bet's are off when it comes to success. I know what it feels like to lose faith in people, especially when you have been burnt beyond recognition to those I trusted the most, gave much, expected little and still the love was not enough. I hope they both find their happiness and place in whatever they do.
Did anyone think this would actually last? The only reason they got married was because she was pregnant. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. I just hope one of them steps up for their child. From this article it sounds like Pete will but who knows. Poor kid..
