For Katherine Heigl, the biggest perk of leaving Grey's Anatomy has been time with daughter Naleigh, nearly 17 months.

"Life is great," Heigl told Entertainment Tonight on Thursday. "It's really family oriented right now...[it] feels as it should be."

Heigl and musician husband Josh Kelley adopted Naleigh (full name: Nancy Leigh) last September from Korea. "Naleigh's still so new in our lives," Heigl, 31, said.

"They change every month so monumentally that every month she's a new kid," she marveled.

Latest milestones? "She just started walking this weekend, she started talking more last month," the proud mom reported. "If I were missing that right now, I would just be devastated."

Late last month, after weeks of speculation, the actress confirmed her departure from Grey's, calling the agreement "amicable." The star said at the time that starting a family "changed my desire to work full-time."

With a full slate of film projects, Heigl told ET Thursday, "I'm still a working mom, but I'm really grateful that I have the time with her that I do now."

Naleigh is so cute. I bet when she grows up she's going to have beautiful high cheek bones because most Asians have high pretty cheek bones. To all the arrogant people commenting this child is not arrogant. You guys are probably jealous because a Hollywood couple didn't adopt you and you were raised by your arrogant parents.

    That's nice!

Speedy - let me spell it out for you here. Asia is a region of the world. Regions are made up of different parts, like states, or countries. Korea is a country - in the region of Asia. And a pretty major one at that. Please go back to school and learn something about social tudies and world cultures this time.

hey Speedy...just to let you know...North and South Korea ARE in Asia...

She's delighted to be home for milestones as long as they don't conflict with her movie schedule - completely ungrateful for the career boost that lousy program gave her lousy career. Oh jeez. And the baby is Korean, not Asian and

Jen don't tell me you've never seen an ugly baby before. Not all babies are pretty. It's just reality, though it may not be a nice thing to say.

  • April 18, 2010 - 7:30pm Stella

The baby looks just like her.

What kind of a person would say a child was ugly?? She is beautiful. Adopting a child is an amazing thing to do, no matter where the child is from. Congrats to Katherine,Josh & Naleigh on their beautiful & loving family!!!

Yeah Kit but when u have money the wait is not years long I'm sure. Celebrities have pull that we don't have. I think it's brave of them too but they probably have help. I have a special needs child and have no help so please don't compare the two situations.

KH didn't adopt from America because she has a sister who is asian, and she always wanted to adopt from that part of the world to reflect her own family. Makes sense to me. What's the big deal? My friends are adopting here in the US and the waiting list for a baby is YEARS long. US babies ARE being placed in homes. It's the older kids that are sitting in foster care. Sad.

Yes, katherine's baby has special needs, she said it herself right when they adopted her. I think she and her husband are very brave and loving people to do this. So stop bashing her and her beautiful baby.

I'm glad the baby has a good home. I think we should adopt more Americans too though whether they be black or white, or latino etc.

  • April 18, 2010 - 12:16am lulu

do you mean adopt American? Or do you mean adopt White? I think the baby has special needs and may be why she has a "huge head". I think the baby is beautiful and so happy that she has a home now, a warm bed, a full belly and a world of opportunity..... Blessings to their family.

  • April 17, 2010 - 11:44pm Catherine

She looks bad and not to be mean but this baby has a huge head! I agree with Lindsay, why not adopt here? We know money is not a problem for her.

  • April 17, 2010 - 11:11pm Jessica

Ever heard of a bra Katherine? Geesh.

  • April 17, 2010 - 10:45pm Lindsay

that kid is not cute at all. she should adopt american.

  • April 17, 2010 - 10:42pm Jan

Wow this baby is very ugly.

  • April 17, 2010 - 10:41pm Tamra

This baby is so ugly and the mom is looking ragged herself.

  • April 17, 2010 - 11:36am Emily
