Miranda Kerr Named Son Flynn After Late Boyfriend

Miranda Kerr named her son after a very special man, but it wasn't husband Orlando Bloom.

Born on Jan. 6, 2011, Flynn Christopher Blanchard Copeland Bloom was (in part) named after the 28-year-old model's first boyfriend, Christopher Middlebrook. Middlebrook died tragically in a car accident as a teenager. (Kerr does not indicate the year of her beau's death.)

"Chris and I had been dating for two years," she told Australia's Daily Telegraph. "After he died, I wrote him a letter that said I hoped to name my first child after him in some way. I told Orlando and he was the one who said he'd be happy to do that. Orlando's a good guy."

Her labor lasted 27 hours; she told InStyle Australia the pain was so bad that "I thought I was going to die."

But Flynn's painful delivery was well worth it in Kerr's eyes. She gushed about her six-month old son: "When he gives me that smile, my heart just melts."

That's a really touching and sweet story plus kids having multiple middle names is nothing new Lady Gaga's full name for example is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta or Madonna's is Madonna Louise Veronica Cicone

It's a touching story really... it's not like the guy is still alive and hangs out with them. Anyway, if it was weird or innapropiate it was for Orlando to decide. If he approved adding the guy's name into the bunch of name Flynn has, then it's OK.

I don't see anything wrong with what she did. It's actually very sweet and shows how secure Orlando is. This was a teen boyfriend, not an ex-husband or long paramour. He obviously meant a lot to her and was a good person to her.

Naming your son after a dead boyfriend? That is just plain WEIRD on so many levels. (I can think of lots of other ways to pay him tribute.)

I preferred Orlando with Kate Bosworth. When this marriage ends (don't they all in Hollyweird?) hopefully they'll get back together.
