Back in her wild child days, Nicole Richie may have hit up the hottest Hollywood nightclub to unwind, but these days, the married mom of two hits her backyard when she wants to enjoy R&R—she gardens in her family's backyard fruit and veggie trove. "I just started growing our own garden. I'm home a lot and we're growing our own fruits and vegetables," House of Harlow designer Richie revealed at Lucky magazine's Los Angeles FABB: Fashion and Beauty Blogger Conference in April.

"There's so many things in food right now and it's important for people to know and be educated on whatever they're putting into their body," the busy mom told Us Weekly.

Eager to raise her children to eat organic, Richie says husband Joel Madden has made a big concession to indulge her new passion for healthy eating. "I just convinced my husband to let me get chickens so we're getting hens," she enthused. "They're coming in a few weeks, actually."

Even more impressive than Richie's gardening skills? The outfits she wears while enjoying her me-time! "I love wearing my little vintage peasant dresses, but I garden in the morning and I'm really cold in the morning. I end up with a North Face [jacket], my husband's baseball cap, colorful sweatpants that I slept in the night before, and leopard slippers," she revealed to Lucky.

The finishing fashion touch for the ever-stylish daughter of Lionel Richie? "I use—and I stand by this 100 percent—a fanny pack!" Richie said. "I have three of them—two vintage Chanel ones. I use them in the garden because I carry my phone in them [to listen to] music. They're dope!"
