Britney Spears went back to her Kentwood, La., roots Saturday for a family fishing trip.

Joined by sons Sean, 5, and Jayden, 4, and her boyfriend Jason Trawick, Spears, 29, enjoyed a Sonic fast-food run before meeting up with her parents and sister, Jamie Lynn, who brought along daughter Maddie, 2.

"[Sean] was more interested in skateboarding but Jayden and Maddie were checking out the bait in a bucket that [Britney's dad] Jamie [Spears] was using and watching him fish," a source tells UsMagazine.com of the family's outing. "He was showing Jayden how to put the bait on the rod and how to cast off."

Spears' beau appeared to really hit it off with her dad -- but had trouble reeling in the big kahuna.

"Jason joined Jamie with a fishing pole. Jamie looked to be an expert and Jason was just having fun with it," says the source. "At one point, he had a fish on his line but couldn't reel it in."

Though she now makes her home in Los Angeles, Spears has always had an affinity for her childhood stomping grounds.

"I grew up in a really small town," she has said of life in Kentwood (pop. 2,656). "I'm a Southern girl and I'm used to cajun food and blues music. I love where I come from."

Lol @ Ginger, yeah I'm from Baton Rouge and Kentwood is not a place I'd ever wanna go. I've passed near there a few times but that's about it

I am not a fan of Britney, but this looks like a family. Not posed or put on like some other families that are shown, usually because a new movie is out to promote.. It looks real, and I give her credit for coming as far as she has.

This is what makes Britney so down to earth. And I think i even has something to do with the way she dresses sometimes. She's not about glitz and glamour like other celebs... She really is just a southern girl who likes to sing and dance, which is why so many people adore her.
