Rachel Bilson Pregnant: Hart of Dixie's Jaime King Says Costar Wanted a Baby "So Badly"
A dream come true! Rachel Bilson and boyfriend Hayden Christensen are on the road to becoming parents, which is something that's been on their wish list for quite some time, her pal and Hart of Dixie costar Jaime King tells Us Weekly.
"I was freaking out! I knew she wanted a baby, she wanted it so badly," King, 35, told Us at the Annenberg Space for Photography Exhibit Opening in Century City, Calif., on Thursday, May 22. "She's going to be in such good hands—she's in a really good space. I'm really thrilled for her."
Us broke news earlier this week that Bilson, 32, and Christensen, 33, are expecting their first child. As an insider told Us the couple had "talked about" getting pregnant "for awhile," King points out that it's helped the O.C. alum to see how King's own pregnancy with son James was handled on their CW series. (King welcomed James with husband Kyle Newman last October.)
"I think because I was the first one pregnant on the series she got to see a lot of what that was like. Her best friend has a kid and she has a lot of friends with children, so I'm just there to support her however I can and honor and respect her processes," the model-turned actress told Us.
"I shot until the day before I gave birth, literally, then went back six weeks later…it was gnarly!" she added of her own experience. "But the blessing was by doing what I love to do it kept me distracted and it kept me active and healthy and I felt safer being on set because I knew if anything were to happen, my crew and cast would take care of me."
Season 4 of Hart of Dixie has yet to start filming, but according to King, the show will probably just shoot around her growing baby bump a la Kerry Washington on Scandal. "We shot up until the day before I gave birth. We're not doing that with Rachel, I think we're going to have more time before," she explained. "I feel like it's a really celebratory time. I'm really thrilled and happy that she's going to be on this next journey of her life."
Bilson and the Star Wars actor first met in 2007 on the set of Jumper. The couple got engaged in December 2008, briefly split in August 2010, and rekindled their romance 3 months later. Although the twosome have a couple of months to go before their baby's arrival, Bilson has been getting some mommy training in with the help of King's baby boy.
"She loves James, she's always bringing him toys," King gushed. "Just seeing her with my son, I know she's going to be the best mother."
