Exclusive: Top Chef's Padma Lakshmi Is Pregnant!

Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi is pregnant, her rep confirms to Usmagazine.com exclusively.
"Model, author, and Emmy-nominated Padma Lakshmi confirms that she is carrying her first child after years of struggling with endometriosis, a cause for which she has co-founded the Endometriosis Foundation of America," the rep tells Us of Lakshmi, 39.

"As a result of her condition, this pregnancy has been referred to by her physician as nothing short of a medical miracle, and due to its delicate nature, we ask/implore the press to respect Ms. Lakshmi's privacy at this time," the rep continues.
Endometriosis is a medical condition in which the uterus' lining grows in other areas of the body, causing pain, irregular bleeding and possible infertility.

The baby's father has not been revealed. Online reports have speculated Manu Nathan is the dad, but her rep denies that, telling Us he's Lakshmi's cousin.
Lakshmi split from novelist Salman Rushdie in 2007 after three years of marriage.
She won the Best First Book award for her first cookbook, Easy Exotic, at the 1999 World Cookbook Awards in Versailles, France. Her second cook book, Tangy, Tart, Hot and Sweet, was released in October 2007.
She hosted the Food Network series, Padma's Passport, in 2001. She's also guest hosted on British show Planet Food.

Has nobody considered the obvious? This may be a PLANNED pregnancy. If she's suffered issues getting pregnant, she may have been going through artificial insemination from a doner. It's the 21st century, people. She has the means to raise a child. I'm sure she'll have plenty of help. There are male role models that don't necessarily have to be husbands. I'd much rather have a child on my own over an ex-husband I wish to never see again. The classic fairy tale doesn't always happen.

as weird as it sounds...the baby daddy is michael voltaggio from top chef las vegas. the reason they are keeping quiet is because release of this information would call into question her "unbiased" judging of the competition. if you trace back how many weeks pregnant she is.... you can see they were still taping the show.

After reading some of these comments, it shows how ignorant people really are, especially the white at the top, no guts to keep your name anonymous. Padma is highly intellectual (sorry if some people cannot understand this), successful & they are just jealous. While I do agree in having a child needs both parents, some times some people should not be parents. At least Padma can afford to have a child & not live off the system. Congratulations, stick to who you are, people take sincerity for being stuck up, again shows how ignorant they really are.

Congrats on the baby not every aspect of Padma'a personal life has to be shown on the air.. Sure when she's ready to share she will in the mean time just support her! I think people should really think harder before posting have the crap they do never know how damaging it can really be!
I want to know who made that dress she's wearing. I also applaud her on starting that orginization for women with endometriosis. As a sufferer myself, i too am "past the age" of what society considers to be child bearing, but due to my illness have struggled years to have another child and i'm still trying. So I say "GO GIRL!"

I don't think she's all that. I just get this fake vibe from her. Like she's pretending to be sexy when she speaks but what I see is someone who looks like they have a stick up their ass.
Another knocked up single mother. Poor kid has no dad right from day one unless she has a partner, never of her having one partner recently.
All children are a blessing and I am happy for her, but I would be happier if she were married. Pregnant and unmarried is not a trend I really find morally acceptable. Marriage is the best relationship to bring a baby into. If you can commit to a child it confuses me why you can't commit to a marriage with the father. Sorry if that bothers people, but I am not going to stop voicing my opinion because it isn't popular.
Uh, if that picture is supposed to confirm her pregnancy, I look more pregnant after eating too much and feeling bloated than she appears in this pic. My stomach is more pooched when I hold in IN than she looks pregnant. Congrats, Padma!!!!!!
