"and other superficial reasons that won't get them through the hard times once they come along- Carrie and Mike,Hilary and Mike" Yet these two are dunzo and the others are going strong! how dumb of a comment lol

Good timing for her. Al made all kinds of money, so she'll do just fine there. This is not a conversation of the lenght of the marriage, its AL Gore. So long as it works out for her, and Al will be ok too. He's got himself to speak of his accomplishments.

I feel so bad for these two...they are two of the brightest people in politics...they made a great team w/ the Clintons- another bright pair- back in the 90s... when it was peacetime and the economy was good...if the Gores and the Clintons were leading the country today- the economy would be good and there would NEVER have been a 9/11 or 2 wars we have no business being in...that said,Al and tipper's marriage had SO MUCH more substance- they were SO MUCH more than 2 hot people looking to have hot sex- they were the REAL DEAL!Which is a lot more than I can say for these fluffy young couples who are just together for the sex and other superficial reasons that won't get them through the hard times once they come along- Carrie and Mike,Hilary and Mike,Scarlett and Ryan...I'm talking to you six ... if a REAL couple like Al and Tipper weren't able to stay together, then I don't hold out much hope for you six... or the rest of the young, fluffy superficial "couples"out there

It's sad that after 40 years of marriage they decided to separate. What ever the reason is, it must be killing them that they have to separate since they were so in love each other. I respect their decision and support them. I'm sure that they will still be close each other and be friend each other.

She's too pretty for him anyway. . . . and come on, Al Bore? She was probably going into some sort of a boredom-induced stupor from having to listen to him talk all of the time! I guess if he had won the presidency a few years back he could have run the Taliban off though. They would have left us alone JUST so they didn't have to hear him anymore! PS - Love Laura Bush!!! :-D

she told him to take his stupid carbon foot prints and shove it---they'll try to blame BUSH on this too!!!

  • June 02, 2010 - 4:26pm Nina

I am sure she got tired of hearing all the crap BS about global warming too. I'm surprised it took her so long!

There is someone else in this picture. I am of the same age as the Gores and I know for a fact, people in their 60's do not separate unless one of the parties is hving an affair. Simple as that.

this is sad...just stay together goodness. 40 years? come on.

  • June 02, 2010 - 1:25pm MeAgain

After 40 years, why even bother? I feel that way at 26 years in.

@Cyndy-I was not saying anything bad about Mrs. Bush, I love her...the first remark in my post is the name someone used..."LauraBushisAFreaknRobot" was the name this hater used. I love Laura.

I agree with all the previous comments saying that either one or both of the Gore's have someone on the side. You don't just leave a marriage of 40 years because you're "drifting apart".

It's hard to read all the vitriol in these posts. Does it make people feel better to put other people down? Would you write the same things if you had to sign your real name? Is it that hard to say something intelligent or kind?

    A sad day indeed.... {;(

To SHUT UP, You are a disgrace to yourself. Regardless of your political position, there is nothing unkind to be said about Laura Bush. She is great and what's not to like? Show some class.

I have been married for 28 years. Some couples realize they are better as friends. Maybe they just need a little excitement in their lives.

  • June 02, 2010 - 9:38am Amy

This makes not sense. You';re divorcing after 40 years, in your 60s due to conflicting schedules????Come on. Someone is off in lala land on this one. In a few years you won't have a schedule, or work because you won't be able to get out of your rocking chair. Now its tiem to go out and date?Really???In your mid 60s??/ And that ne w person is going to deal with 4 grown children, grandchildren and all the ties that bind???All that history??? This makes o sense but neither of these two seems very bright.
