The eagle has landed!

Alec Baldwin arrived safely at New York City's JFK airport Tuesday night. Earlier in the day, the 30 Rock star was kicked off an American Airlines flight for continuing to use his iPhone while the plane was at the gate.

"The flight attendant on American reamed me out for playing Words with Friends while we sat at the gate, not moving," Baldwin, 53, tweeted. (His account has since been deleted.) "No wonder American Air is bankrupt."

"But, oddly, 30 Rock plays inflight on American," Baldwin added. "The real way is United."

Baldwin also took the opportunity to slam American Airlines' staff. "Last flight with American, where retired Catholic school gym teachers from the 1950s find jobs as flight attendants," he sniped on the microblogging site.

The actor's rep explained the ordeal to Us Weekly, saying: "Alec was asked to leave the flight for playing Words with Friends while parked at the gate. He loves WWF so much that he was willing to leave a plane for it, but he has already boarded another AA flight."

I abhor AA, so I understand completely where he's coming from. As for turning off his phone, I don't see what the issue was if they weren't even taxiing from the gate. It's ridiculous.

Can I just say that the iphone or ipad has an airplane option mode, which means you can play as much as you want or listen to music or do whatever as much as you want without setting off or activating or impacting any electronic device on a plane. What is the big deal. I think flight attendants were just being picky, aside from that the plane was parked at the gate. I belive this applies to anyone, celeb or not. I am sure he was not the only person using a device while parked at the gate, with airplane mode astivated or not. they just decided to pick on him.

I agree with most of the people here-if you are asked to turn your phone or anything off then you shut it off. Enough said. Why should he be treated any different. If you don't like the rules of flying then buy yourself your own Jet.

Just because he's a so-called "celebrity," that doesn't mean that he deserves special treatment. If the other passengers on the plane had to turn off their electronic devices while the plane was at the gate, then he had to do the same. He's just another spoiled brat (a "celebratty," if you will) who thinks he's entitled to special treatment. I never was a fan of his, and I never will be. Kudos to the plane staff, and shame on Alec Baldwin and every person who is siding with him and bashing the plane staff.

I JUST flew American Airlines and the staff on my fllights were amazing!!!! Knowing that I was terrified of flying, they kept checking on me to see if I was ok. So, my guess is, that Mr. baldwin was just being his normal rude and obnoxious self. Get over yourself. WWF will be there when you get off...JERK!

    Team Alec!!

  • December 07, 2011 - 1:38pm Michelle Henderson

Numerous people on the same plane about him being kicked off, so why can't he play word with friends?

  • December 07, 2011 - 1:38pm Michelle Henderson

TEAM ALEC!!!!! Everyone has their phones out at the gate, they were picking on him! :(

Sure, we buy all those excuses for dear Alec, because he's always been such a calm sweetheart in the past. Not.

  • December 07, 2011 - 1:12pm Cristina Hernandez

I was asked to turn off my phone even though I was at the gate. I obliged without an problem. He's just an ass.

These damn celebrities seem to think they are above everyone else. Alec, if it wasn't for 30 Rock, you would be flipping burgers.

This man is never satisified unless he is in the middle of some kind of uproar ! It's ashame he feels this is the only way he can get attention !

He should have turned his phone of when asked... He is right about the AA staff though. I won't fly with AA anymore because the planes are old, break down and the staff is extremly rude. On my last flight i witnessed the flight attendened yell at passangers over little things. They were also dressed extremly sloppy and looked frumpy. The whole experiance was very unpleasant.

He has some serious issues. If a flight attendant asks you to do something, do it. I don't care who you think you are.

Thank you, Mr. Baldwin, for deleting your Twitter account. I cannot imagine reading about your hourly exploits as you traverse the country making a gigantic ass of yourself and thinking "Twittering" all about it will garner sympathy from your obsequious (and alleged) fan base. Crack open that wallet of yours and charter your own jet; you can be as much of an ass as you want on your own dime.

  • December 07, 2011 - 11:34am Robyn Ingvallsen

He should just grow up and detach his phone from his hand as he's obviously addicted, as well as an entitled a$$

  • December 07, 2011 - 10:54am Lawrence Wiiz

    >>but he has already boarded another AA flight. He should have taken the bus to protest all airline because they'd do the same thing to him..
