After a rocky few years, Amanda Bynes is once again taking classes at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising

Amanda Bynes is once again pursuing her dream of a career in fashion. After some time off in recent months, the former child star is back in school at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM), her parents' lawyer Tamar Arminak confirms to Us Weekly

Bynes, 29, first enrolled at the school in early 2014 but stopped attending classes that fall, shortly before she was placed under a psychiatric hold for several weeks. She has since returned to the L.A. campus.

"We are all so proud of her, and can't wait to see her amazing designs on the runway someday," Arminak tells Us of the Easy A actress.

Bynes' erratic behavior has been well-documented over the past few years, but she's kept a much lower profile since leaving treatment last year. Shortly after her release, she tweeted that she was still seeing doctors weekly and taking medication.

"I am doing my best to get better," she told Us in a statement via attorney David Esquibias in November 2014. "I am sorry for any pain I caused my family and others…I am thankful for everyone's patience and understanding."

In July of this year, she made a rare public appearance at an event for Michael Costello and Style PR's capsule collection launch in L.A., where she looked healthy and seemed to be in good spirits.

"Amanda is doing great," Esquibias told Us in June. "She appreciates all of the love and support she receives from family, friends, and fans."
