They found the one, and now they're soon to welcome another! Amber Lee and Ethan Diamond fell in love on MTV's dating show Are You the One? and got engaged on the program's reunion special in April. The happy couple is now expecting their first child together.
"The moment I found out I was pregnant could not have been more special and absurd than it was," Lee, 23, dishes to Us Weekly exclusively about her happy news. "Ethan and I had just gotten back to my apartment in Texas after a 20-hour drive from Colorado, where we had been for the past month, just to find out that my electricity had been shut off! Long story short, around 2:00 a.m. on April 3rd, Ethan was out unloading a carful of luggage while I took a pregnancy test, in the dark, with the aid of a tiny lamp from Walmart."
"As soon as I saw that little plus sign, I was overtaken with excitement," she continued to Us. "I had always imagined that moment to be gut-wrenching and terrifying, but instead I was hit with a surge of confidence and excitement. I was huddled in a dark bathroom after a 20-hour drive with a pee stick and a lamp… but it all felt so right."
Lee couldn't wait to share the news with her future husband. "As soon as I put my arms around him and the tears started rolling down my face… he knew instantaneously," she told Us of Diamond, 24. "I don't know how he knew — I guess being new parents comes with lots of intuition. Regardless, no words had been exchanged yet, but he knew he was a father and I knew he was ready. I stood there with his arms around me for a good few minutes, just soaking in the special moment."
Diamond and Lee were one of the first pairs to correctly couple-up on the MTV show, which assembled a group of 10 women and 10 men, who each had a matchmaker-chosen perfect match in the cast. The couplings were kept a secret from the stars, and they had to figure out between one another whom they were meant to be with.
Diamond is equally thrilled about Lee's pregnancy. "It was the single most exciting and memorable moment of my life," he tells Us. "I had always known I would be a father at some point, but hearing those words for the first time fills you with an indescribable love. Nothing else matters, nothing compares, and I couldn't imagine myself being anywhere else. Many doors open, and some close, but the feeling of being a parent is something I hope everyone can experience."
With the baby on the way, Lee and Diamond have altered their wedding plans. "We were planning on getting married Spring 2015; however, after having our little miracle, it felt somewhat selfish to be budgeting for a wedding," the reality stars tell Us. "We decided on having a small, private wedding this fall but also plan to throw a big wedding sometime next year with our baby."
