The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice actor, 42, departed the Bahamas first, packing up and heading to L.A. on Friday, July 3. An onlooker tells Us Weekly he was wearing his wedding ring when he left, and had a baseball cap pulled low over his eyes.

Garner, 43, stayed an extra two days with their kids — Violet, 9, Seraphina, 6, and Samuel, 3. The foursome flew out on Sunday, July 5, to Atlanta, Ga., where the Draft Day actress is set to start working on a new movie soon, the drama Miracles From Heaven

"Ben is distraught over the divorce and is having a very hard time," an insider tells Us Weekly. "He doesn't have a lot of close friends to lean on right now, and Jennifer has always been the one he goes to."

The Argo director won't have a lot of time to dwell in the next few days, though. Affleck is scheduled to make his first post-split appearance with the rest of the Batman v Superman team at Comic Con in San Diego, Calif., on Saturday, July 11.

Garner, meanwhile, has her own work to do in Atlanta. But when she does return to the couple's home in L.A.'s Brentwood neighborhood, Affleck will still be living on the property. The pair plan to stay close geographically so they can co-parent their children, an insider previously told Us.

"They've been married for a long time and tried to make it work for many years," the source said. "They eventually realized this is the best thing to do for their family. They don't want it to be contentious. A lot of people say that, but they are doing things to ensure that it won't be. There is a lot of love there, but they are doing what is best for everybody."
