Bobby Brown‘s lawyer released a new statement to Us Weekly about Bobbi Kristina Brown on Monday, April 20, after the R&B singer was asked to clarify shocking comments made during a Dallas concert this past weekend.

“Due to the numerous requests for an elaboration of the comments made by Bobby Brown on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at his concert in Texas, there is a need to clarify the reports on the condition of Bobbi Kristina,” his lawyer Christopher Brown of Brown & Rosen LLC told Us in the statement.

On Saturday, Brown told concertgoers that his daughter was improving dramatically. “I can say today, Bobbi is awake,” he said of his one and only daughter with the late Whitney Houston. “She’s watching me.”

Bobby’s attorney explained that while Bobbi is awake, her long-term prognosis remains unknown. “Bobbi Kristina’s condition has changed since moving from Emory University Hospital and there has been improvement,” the lawyer told Us. “Doctors have indicated that she will have a long life. However, Bobbi Kristina is presently embarking on a rehabilitation process and the quality of her life will not be known for years to come.”

Brown himself thanked supporters for their continual prayers. “We thank everyone that supports Bobbi Kristina,” he said Monday. “And God is hearing our prayers.”

The singer’s wife, Alicia Etheredge-Brown, also released a statement through their lawyer on Monday, making it clear that Bobby was in “an emotional state” when he made the comments during his show this past Saturday. On Monday, TMZ reported that the Houston family was not pleased with Bobby’s statements, which Etheredge-Brown acknowledged.

“My husband made an attempt to correct the negative comments he must endure on a daily basis from both family and the public regarding his daughter’s medical condition,” Etheredge-Brown — who’s currently expecting a baby with Bobby — said through the couple’s lawyer.

“He is encouraged by the steps that Bobbi Kristina has made since her hospitalization on January 31, 2015. She has made it out of ICU, opened her eyes, and started a rehabilitation that will be long and hard. We will hold on to all the blessings GOD gives us to help her at this time and we look forward to her having a relationship with her unborn sister as our family grows in love and faith. I just wish my husband could deal with this most painful and difficult time with people surrounding him who fully support and pray for Bobbi Kristina’s recovery and only her recovery. Life is the most precious thing that we all have.”

Bobbi Kristina was found facedown and unresponsive in a bathtub on Jan. 31. While her condition has improved, her maternal grandmother Cissy Houston broke her silence last month and said there was “still not a great deal of hope.”

“She’s the same,” Cissy said of Bobbi during a radio interview. “We’ve moved her to a place for rehabilitation. And you know, still not a great deal of hope. [We’re] still praying.”

Other questions remain unanswered about what happened prior to Bobbi Kristina being found in her Roswell, Georgia home. Police have told Us Weekly previously that her case is being treated as a criminal investigation. Meanwhile, Bobbi’s boyfriend Nick Gordon is currently in rehab for drug and alcohol treatment after Dr. Phil and his mother staged an intervention for him last month.
