Back on the road, together again! More than 10 years after they starred in the road trip drama Crossroads, Britney Spears and pregnant Zoe Saldana reunited at Los Angeles International Airport on Monday, Sept. 8.
Expecting her first child with husband Marco Perego, Saldana, 36, was seen at LAX with Spears, 32. The Avatar actress went comfy and casual for the flight, dressing her bump in a long, striped tank top under a black cardigan with black cropped leggings and peep-toe heeled booties. She went incognito in the busy crowd in aviator sunglasses.
Spears also sported shades, wearing a white, retro-inspired pair with a yellow fedora, jeans, and a red henley shirt under a zippered sweatshirt. The two stars were photographed together as they made their way to a terminal.
The two women, who were departing from LAX, made the reverse trip in their 2002 movie with Taryn Manning. Written by Scandal creator Shonda Rhimes, Crossroads tells the story of three high school girls (Spears, Saldana, and Manning), who grew apart after being best childhood friends. They reunite senior year when their circumstances bring them together for a dream-chasing road trip to California.
In the years since the critically panned movie made its debut, Spears and Saldana have stayed friendly, and spoken highly of one another.
Last month, Saldana jumped to her pop star pal’s defense when audio made its way online of Spears’ less-than-impressive unedited vocals.
“I have a huge amount of respect for Britney Spears,” she said at the time. “And I’ve always said this, and I will always continue to say it: She was the one big, big celebrity that I met when I was starting to work in Hollywood who was humble, and whatever was going on in her mind or in her world, it was never about hating her neighbor.”
“She was the only pop star at that time — and I can name a lot of prominent figures right now that today are more famous than Britney that literally got to where they’re at by hating on Britney a lot,” Saldana continued. “Because it was cool at one time to really just diss her. And Britney never did that.”
Spears took to Twitter after Saldana’s words, writing, “.@zoesaldana Truly the sweetest, thx 4 the kind words. Nothing but great memories of working w u. Crossroads pt 2? ;)”
