No more drama for this Demi Moore ex!

In the June/July issue of Esquire, Bruce Willis expounds on what he’s learned as father to Rumer, 23, Scout, 20, and Tallulah, 18, his daughters with first wife Moore, 49.

“Sometimes I have to resist the urge to speak,” the Moonrise Kingdom actor, 57, says in the chat. “I learned it from dealing with my kids. That’s my number-one rule.”

“I’d rather hear what [my daughters] have to say,” he explains. “And this stuff is just a matter of not equating drama with actions that will help them. Teach them to shun drama.”

“You have to give them a code,” he adds of words of advice to his girls. “Beginning with things like ‘Don’t bite people.’ That becomes something like ‘It’s not okay to be mean. Ever.’ That was our watchword when the girls were younger.”

Other advice from Papa Willis? “Take responsibility for when you are wrong. . .They hear you own up, and they learn to own up.”

Willis and Moore split in 2000 after 13 years together; the LOL actress is on the comeback trail after her early 2012 breakdown (and rehab stay) in the wake of her messy late 2011 split from Ashton Kutcher.

Willis gave the interview before second wife Emma Heming gave birth to daughter Mabel, their first child together, on April 1.

“All I want right now,” he said of then-pregnant wife Heming, 34, “is to be with her, to stare at her belly. . . I’m happy every day!”
