Throughout history, musicians have set the tone for hairstyles.
In recent years, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry have made headlines for their wacky looks, but many stars before them had major influences hair trends.
In the video above, Carrie Keagan, host of VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live chats with Us Weekly about the history of hair in music. From Joan Jett's shag 'do, Cyndi Lauper's "highlighter yellow" hair color and Macy Grey's afro, Keagan, 32, helps Us take a look back on past popular trends.
But she also shares which new stars' look she's most like to steal -- Nicki Minaj! "I wanted her hair very badly," Keagan says. "She did that asymmetrical cool cut. It was super short in the back and then really long in the front. It's kind of like a backwards mullet . . . amazing."
While Keagan won't be changing her hair color to match Minaj's neon styles, she may consider going red. The VH1 star says blondes do have more fun, "But I think redheads are having more fun than anyone else."
