Watch This Emotional Tribute to Christina Grimmie From VidCon 2016

Nearly three weeks after Christina Grimmie was tragically killed after a concert in Orlando, the cofounders of VidCon paid tribute to the late Voice star with a tear-jerking video at VidCon 2016.

Hank and John Green had trouble keeping their composure while presenting the video tribute at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, on Thursday, June 23.

“This month, our community experienced … ” Hank said before breaking down in tears. John who is also the author of the 2012 novel The Fault In Our Stars, finished his brother’s sentence, “ … a terrible tragedy.”

The author continued, “Christina Grimmie, a passionate and dedicated, innovated and talented YouTube creator, was killed after her concert, and then the next day 49 people were murdered at a gay club in Orlando.”

Hank added, “Her innovation and her generosity will affect this industry and this community forever and I’m proud of that. Her memory will always be with us. A bunch of her friends reached out to us because they wanted to share a tribute that they were putting together in her memory. So please join us in listening to and watching dozens of YouTubers and her friends who worked with her performing one of her songs [‘With Love’].”

The seven-minute video montage included clips from Grimmie’s performances on season 6 of The Voice as well as her YouTube videos and various appearances over the years.

As previously reported, the 22-year-old singer was shot and killed while signing autographs following a performance at the Plaza Live theater in Orlando on June 10.

Grimmie’s Voice coach, Adam Levine, later remembered her via Twitter, writing, “There are no words. We have lost a beautiful soul with an amazing voice.” The Maroon 5 frontman also paid for the late songwriter’s June 17 funeral services.
