This is bananas.
Solange Knowles posted a series of tweets on Sunday describing her frustration with the Miami Police Department. Beyonce's 25-year-old kid sister claimed law enforcement officials were "discriminating" against her and "pulled a weapon on me" for no legitimate reason.
But a Miami Beach Police Department spokesman tells E! News that Knowles' "incident" took place outside of Miami's Club Cameo when the singer and DJ wasn't allowed in the venue because she "was in possession of a 5-foot-tall inflatable banana."
"Ms. Knowles' demeanor caused the officers to escort her across the street to further the conversation, where Ms. Knowles claims one of the officers pulled a 'weapon' on her, not a firearm, and threatened to deflate the banana," Det. Juan Sanchez tells E! News.
Knowles, who was not arrested after the incident, said she was "only tweeting this to raise awareness."
"I could have left quietly, but I am sick and tired of this scenario being played over and over again," the single mother of son Julez, 6, said. "I'm OK… I'm just beyond frustrated with the system. It is time to do something about it. I am a mother raising a young black child in America. I'm going to die trying!"
