Derek Jeter Is “Totally in Love” With Fiancee Hannah Davis: Why Their Relationship Works

A source tells Us Weekly that newly engaged Derek Jeter is "totally in love" with his fiancee, Hannah Davis -- find out what makes their relationship different from his past high-profile romances.

His match for life. Once baseball’s ultimate bachelor, former Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter took a huge leap of faith and recently proposed to his girlfriend, Hannah Davis, a source confirmed to Us Weekly on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

According to the insider, what distinguishes Davis from all of Jeter’s previous girlfriends — including Minka Kelly, Vanessa Lachey, Jordana Brewster, Mariah Carey, and many more — is her personality and their compatibility.

“Their relationship works because they are both supportive and sweet to each other,” the source tells Us. “They almost never fight.”

The New York Daily News first reported the engagement on Tuedsay, Oct. 27, revealing that Davis’ family is “very happy” that Jeter will be their in-law. A source told Page Six that Jeter proposed this past weekend for the couple’s three-year anniversary.

The easygoing dynamic between the pair isn’t the only reason why 41-year-old Jeter has finally decided to settle down, though. “Derek is totally in love with her,” Us Weekly‘s insider explains. “He thinks she’s beautiful, sweet, and sexy! All of Derek’s friends are jealous that his fiancée is so beautiful.”

Jeter and Davis got together in 2012, after the former MLB player ended his high-profile, three-year romance with Friday Night Lights actress Kelly. He hinted previously at the notion of settling down once he retired his pinstripe uniform in 2014.

In a January 2015 panel, Jeter explained why marriage was never a possibility during his decades-long athletic career. “I just know that I personally couldn’t have done it while I was playing,” he told Steiner Sports Marketing of starting a family. “I was too selfish to be able to juggle a family and kids. But I look forward to it happening.”

Davis, who is hosting Project Runway Junior, has equally found her ideal significant other in the baseball hunk. “I’m such a homebody. When I’m not at work, I’m home,” the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl told Us at a “Club SI” party last winter. “Being with SI and working with them, you have to do these red carpet events, but they’re few and far between. Most of the time I’m just a normal gal.”

When it comes to qualities she looks for in a partner, Davis’ demand was very simple. “Confidence,” the model, 25, told Us. “A man. I’m not into little boys.”
