Dexter star Michael C. Hall has been diagnosed with cancer.

The actor, 38, said in a statement Wednesday that he is being successfully treated for Hodgkin's lymphoma and added that he was fortunate to be diagnosed with a "treatable and curable condition."

He also thanked his doctors and nurses for their expertise.

"The Hodgkin's lymphoma is in complete remission and has been for some time," the actor's spokesperson, Craig Bankey, told "The treatment will continue as planned."

The illness is not stopping him from attending Sunday's Golden Globe Awards. Hall, who is nominated for his role as a serial killer in the Showtime series, still plans to attend the ceremony with his wife -- and Dexter costar -- Jennifer Carpenter.

Bankey said Hall will return to production on the drama's fifth season later this year.
