Have chopsticks, will travel! When Drew Barrymore and her husband, Will Kopelman, were itching for a spring break vacation, the couple didn't pack up their swimsuits and head to the beach. Instead, Barrymore trekked to Japan for a food tour of Tokyo.

Kicking off her vacation in mid-March, Barrymore, 40, took her husband of three years along for the ride to indulge in sushi, ramen, and other local delicacies. There's no word if daughters Olive, 2, and Frankie, 11 months, came along, but Barrymore made sure to document her vacation on (what else?) Instagram.

As any good foodie does, Barrymore made the most of every meal, starting with breakfast. While at the Aman Resort in Tokyo's Otemachi district, the Blended actress opted for the traditional Japanese breakfast — fruit and green juice included! –  in the hotel's eatery that overlooks the Imperial Palace.

Later, she and Kopelman had a once in a lifetime dining experience when sushi chefs Jiro Ono and his son Yoshikazu cooked for them at their restaurant Sukiyabashi Jiro. "We dream of sushi with Jiro and Yoshikazu," Barrymore wrote in her #tokyofoodtour Instagram diary. "Dream come true!"

Barrymore may have become enamored with the 89-year-old culinary master from the 2011 documentary, Jiro Dreams of Sushi. She's not alone in her admiration, as fellow diners at the three-star Michelin sushi spot have included President Barack Obama.

Along with multiple servings of noodles, Barrymore experienced the local tradition of robatayaki (fireside cooking), and had her fill of street ramen – as early in the morning as 7 a.m.

Of course, it wouldn't be a trip overseas without a few American staple indulgences on the menu. For Barrymore, those were iced tea and Krispy Kreme donuts. "I love iced tea and Tokyo does it right. Vending machine on every corner!" Barrymore mused in an Instagram snap of the star assessing her drink options.

Heading back to the States on March 18 after three days, Barrymore summed up her trip with two very appropriate hashtags: #swollen and #happy. "Sayonara! Goodbye Tokyo – thank you!" she wrote.
