It's "about someone who's well known, but not Taylor," Sheeran told Parade. The magazine does note that it's been rumored the single is about fellow Brit Ellie Goulding. The "Anything Can Happen" singer dated Sheeran briefly, and they were caught holding hands at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.
Sheeran was the opening act for Swift's Red Tour and has co-written songs with the country-pop singer. The pair have become close friends, vacationing together and goofing off at parties.
Things are completely platonic with the pals, and Sheeran confirmed he is currently dating a chef—though he wouldn't divulge her name. He likely doesn't have much time for romance with a hectic recording and touring schedule.
“I know this isn’t going to last forever," Sheeran said of his current success. "Now is the time when I’m making my musical statements and being cool and going to parties. But I don’t think I’ll be living this life in 10 years’ time. If I am, please slap me.”
Instead he hopes to be, “Back home, bunch of kids. At 33, I should be starting to settle down.”
With which celebrity did he once dream of settling down?
"My first celebrity crush was JoJo," he admitted. "She was 13 at the time, and I was 13. But now? Zach Galifianakis."
Jokes aside, he hasn't always been smooth with the ladies. While serving as a mentor on The Voice in season five, Sheeran had an embarrassing moment with Grammy winner Christina Aguilera.
"She brought me into the dressing room to give me a rundown of how the show was going to go," he said of the "Beautiful" singer. "She wasn't wearing a bra and [was wearing] a very tight white top. I was 22 at the time and it was quite hard to concentrate."
