Even with Jennifer Aniston nearly 500 miles away, Justin Theroux still has plenty of reasons to smile.
On August 18, the Your Highness actor stepped out for the first time since asking Aniston to marry him on August 10, his 41st birthday. (Aniston is shooting We're The Millers in Wilmington, North Carolina, the same location where Dawson's Creek and One Tree Hill were filmed.)
The following day, Theroux — wearing a tight-fitting tee and dark denim jeans — flashed the peace sign as he strolled through New York City's East Village neighborhood. He was also seen at one of his favorite hotspots, The Smile.
In the new issue of Us Weekly, an Aniston confidant reveals that the 43-year-old actress "cried" when Theroux popped the question. "The proposal was simple. He was surprised she said yes, but he is so happy."
This will be the first marriage for Theroux, who was previously in a longterm relationship with Manhattan-based stylist Heidi Bivens. It will also be the second marriage for Aniston, whose five-year union to Brad Pitt ended in 2005. Pitt, 48, proposed to his Mr. & Mrs. Smith costar, Angelina Jolie, 37, earlier this year.
