Too fast! Furious 7 is officially a billion dollar baby for Universal Pictures after just 17 days.

The seventh installment in the action series hit theaters abroad on April 1, arriving stateside on April 3. Furious 7 quickly broke records with its massive haul, now sitting at just over $1 billion at the international box office. The flick counts a $265.35 million domestic gross and an additional $735.2 million in foreign ticket sales.

A banner series for Universal Pictures, the Fast and the Furious has seen financial success with its six previous installments, but never to the level of the latest effort. Furious 7 made $67 million stateside on its opening day and officially became the film company's most successful debut.

Moviegoers came out in droves for the highly anticipated film as it famously marks the late Paul Walker's final contribution to the franchise. The beloved star passed away in a tragic car crash at the age of 40 in November 2013, leaving unfinished scenes in the midst of the production schedule.

The film's stars celebrated its success after it reached record totals and continued to grow. Ludacris, who plays Tej, took to Instagram on Friday evening, April 17, to share a photo of the cast covered with a caption reading "$1 BILLION!"

"I spoke this into existence!" he added. "Thank you to the fans!!"

Vin Diesel, who honored Walker by naming his newborn baby girl Pauline last month, shared a Furious 7 promotional photo on Facebook on Thursday and wrote, "I have never seen the studio so proud of a movie… Blessed, humbled and inspired."
