Hours after she watched husband Gary Coleman pass away, Shannon Price acknowledged fan support in a moving statement.

In a press conference held Friday afternoon, Shannon's brother, Shawn Price, read a note on her behalf.

"We are very grateful for all the wonderful support everyone has been extending to Gary's family," Shannon's statement began.

"Thousands of emails have poured in to the hospital. This has been so comforting to the family to know how beloved he still is."

On Wednesday, Coleman -- who was born with a congenital kidney disease that caused him to only grow to only 4-foot-8 -- suffered an intracranial hemorrhage after he hurt his head following a fall in his Utah home. He slipped into a coma Thursday afternoon, and passed away at approximately 12:05 p.m. at a Provo, Utah hospital, surrounded by his wife and other family members. The Diff'rent Strokes actor -- who suffered from health woes throughout his life -- was 42.

Funeral arrangements and more details about Coleman's death will be released soon, Shawn Price added.

"Thank you so much for all that you guys have done and for the support and prayers that you guys have given us."

My thoughts and prayers go out to Gary Coleman and family. I grew up with Gary Coleman and watched him throughout his childhood career. I pray that he's finally found peace. May God Bless him and his family.

People who are accusing her of murder are the creepiest humans on the face of the earth. Its really irresponsible to jump to conclusions as wild as that one without one shred of evidence. I once fainted and crashed my head on the ground. How horrifying that there are people in this world with IQ's so low that they will automatic think my friends who were with me.. pushed me. Stop jumping to rash irresponsible conclusions. A HUNCH is not evidence or ESP.

A sad situation for Gary's family. Rest in peace & I hope you become the star you wanted to be in the "hereafter". I also would like to say, "Where were all his "friends" when he was alive. Just like Michael Jackson they come out in droves after the death saying they were his friend, how wonderful he was, etc." Where were you when he was alive & breathing? Such hypocrites!

Their divorce was "in progress". But, hey, at least she gave it a shot with him and hopefully gave him some happiness at one time. He said in an interview that she was his FIRST girlfriend and FIRST kiss at the age of 40! So sad. And sad that it was a dysfunctional relationship, but at least she gave him a try. How many other woman did? NONE. Ever. With his health problems and short stature and financial problems and temper etc., he was vey difficult and was no piece of cake, he said so himself. Hope you are at peace Gary.

Sad. And sad that he had to live with the kidney disease and health problems his entire life that he was BORN with, and had NO CHOICE in the matter. Then we have all the fools in this world who are trying to PURPOSELY kill themselves off with their cigarettes and drugs and alcohol and HAVE a choice, but obviously want to be unhealthy and TRY to kill THEMSELVES. Hope you are at peace Gary.

anyone could go at anytime, this guy was just walking around his house and slipped and fell. next thing he's in a coma, then dead. when he woke that morning he never knew it was his last day.

Isn't it sad that you all can assume that Gary's wife is to blame for his death. No a single one of you have ever been on the inside of this mans life or marriage and you just assume he has been murdered. Shannon and Gary had their problems but it certainly wasn't the two trying to kill each other. Gary and Shannon came to a happy medium in their marriage and were still very much married; and Gary did have specific instruction on what to do for him if he was in the state or condition he was in, He didn't want to be on life support. Shannon did what Gary would have wanted her to do for him. You all need to get a life and let this man finally rest. Don't bash his widow simply to keep the drama going. I would hope that Shannon would go after slander against all of you that seem to want to bash her when she is dealing with such a great loss in her life.

Weren't they going through a divorce? She probably made him fall!

  • May 29, 2010 - 7:01am Ani

His kidney condition requires a great deal of blood-thinning medication, so even a tap could cause a bruise and even a minor head injury could hemmorage, such as slipping on a wet floor or in the shower. Sometimes, removing from life support is the best thing to do and allows the person to die with dignity and relatively peacefully, especially if they would only live by artificial means. A lot of people have a provision for it in their will or POA paperwork.

When I was in 2nd grade, I was an extra in a movie of Gary Coleman's...The movie was called Scouts Honor. I just remember him being a nice guy. It is too bad he had such a hard life, what a struggle. I hope that he is at peace and maybe he is in heaven giving the people I love a smile :) RIP

I thought these two got a divorce? And she was the one who took him off life support? She needs to be investigated.

  • May 29, 2010 - 1:07am Jane

Actually when i saw him on INSIDER ... the interview really got him all worked up ... I felt the interview went so wrong having Coleman to walked out fuming. ....

  • May 29, 2010 - 12:26am Yes

thankfully they didn't have kids = they are/were both extremely messed up and had serious issues. No place for kids in that kid of screwed up enviornment.

You are so totally right to be suspicious of Gary Coleman's wife (Shannon Price) -- I agree with your comments 100% !!! The people of Utah should demand that the local D.A. Investigate-THE-WIFE!!!! Most people believe that his gummy-grin wife probably did kill him (and also probably hopes to make money writing a book about him â?¦ which no one should buy --- just like they shouldnâ??t buy her story that he "fell")!!!! They had an UNconsumated â??marriageâ??-of-convenience after â??sheâ?? had proposed to (and later abused) â??himâ??. Now the tragic life of that man has ended and -- it looks like "he's dead because of the redhead"!!

  • May 28, 2010 - 11:59pm Lori

    Wha cha talking bout Willis?

  • May 28, 2010 - 11:53pm so sad!

I totally agree with the comments about his wife!! I hope I'm wrong but as soon as I heard that he was in the hospital, I had a bad feeling that she was behind it!! I hope they look closely @ her and investigate just in case!!
