Grey’s Anatomy star Kevin McKidd and his wife, Jane, are divorcing after nearly 17 years of marriage, his rep confirms to Us Weekly.
“Kevin and Jane have jointly decided to end their marriage,” his rep tells Us. “They look forward to continuing to coparent their children, who have been their top priority, and will continue to enjoy a close and caring relationship.”
The couple tied the knot in 1999 and are parents of son Joseph, 16, and daughter Iona, 14. The Scottish family officially became American citizens in August 2015 after a “proud and emotional” ceremony at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office in Washington, D.C., the actor shared via Twitter at the time.
McKidd, 42, is best known for his role as Dr. Owen Hunt on Grey’s Anatomy. His character was introduced on season 5 of the hit ABC medical drama and has since become a series regular.
As previously reported, Grey’s fans last saw Dr. Hunt on the emotional season 12 finale, where he tried to comfort Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) after she had last-minute doubts about their wedding. Following a brief pep talk, which included Amelia hiding in a locked bathroom, the wedding finally went as planned.
McKidd has also starred in Trainspotting, Rome and Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
According to TMZ, Kevin and Jane separated back in October 2015.
