Eddie Murphy already has one important star's blessing!

Former Oscar host Hugh Jackman sang the praises of this year's pick, 50. "I think he's fantastic! I've been a massive fan of his since Trading Places," the actor, 42, raved at the launch of the Virgin America Reel Steel airplane. "Besides maybe Billy Crystal, I couldn't think of anyone better. I think he's amazing and I think he's going to be fantastic."

Jackman isn't the first former host to speak out about Murphy's big night. On September 20, three-time emcee Steve Martin dished out a few tips to his longtime pal on his website.

"If you feel tired midway through give Neil Patrick Harris a Red Bull and throw some sheet music at him," the SNL alum, 66, joked.

The 83rd Academy Awards takes place on Feb. 27 2012. Jackman's new movie Real Steel hits theaters Oct. 3.
