Jay Adams, the legendary skater who was portrayed by Emile Hirsch in Lords of Dogtown, has died of a heart attack, TMZ reports. He was 53.

According to TMZ, the pro skateboarder died late Thursday, Aug. 14, in Mexico. Adams was reportedly on a three-month-long surfing vacation with his wife Tracy.
The famous Z-Boys member is being mourned by fellow skateboarding pros like Tony Hawk. “Goodbye Jay Adams. Thank you for inspiring us to get vertical and to keep pushing the limits of what is possible,” Hawk wrote. Other celebs like Behati Prinsloo shared: “R.I.P Jay Adams #Zboys #dogtown.”
The celebrity spinner, whose real name was Adam Goldstein, died in August 2009 of an apparent drug overdose at the age of 36.
