What do you get the woman who not only has everything, but is everything? As one of the biggest superstars in the world, Beyonce has meant so much to so many people — but no one loves her more than her family. On Friday, Sept. 4, her 34th birthday, the singer's closest friends and relatives banded together to celebrate #BeyDay with a one-of-a-kind gift: a list of ultra-personal song dedications.
The musical tribute was shared via Bey's website, and featured messages from her parents, Tina and Mathew; her sister, Solange; her nephew, Julez; her Destiny's Child bandmates, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams; and her brother-in-law, Alan Ferguson (among others). All were heartfelt, but two — from Bey's husband, Jay Z, and their daughter, Blue Ivy — really stood out.
Jay chose the song "Yellow" by Coldplay, whose lead singer, Chris Martin, is the ex-husband of Bey's good friend Gwyneth Paltrow.
"This song reminds me of you and I on vacation. 'Look at the stars, look how they shine for you,'" the rapper wrote, quoting the lyrics to the song. "So many legendary nights. It represents vulnerability; it's us in our own world, away from work and totally lost in love. 'For you, I'll bleed myself dry.'"
Included with the dedication was a snippet of the tune from Jay's music streaming service Tidal, as well as a photo of him and his wife sharing a laugh.
Blue Ivy, meanwhile, chose a classic Disney ballad to dedicate to her mom: the Little Mermaid song "Part of Your World," sung by Jodi Benson. "Mommy you sung this to me all the time," the 3-year-old's message read. "Happy Birthday, Mommy!"
