The Duke and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, visit the 1st Battalion Irish Guards to attend the St. Patrick's Day Parade at Mons Barracks, Aldershot.

Kate Middleton is still playing coy about whether her royal bundle of joy will be a baby girl or baby boy. The Duchess of Cambridge, 31, who earlier this month almost let slip the gender of her baby during an event in Grimsby, England, is sure of one thing, however: There’s a lot she and Prince William will have to adjust to once they enter parenthood.

At the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Hampshire, England, on Sunday, March 17, Middleton and William, 30, handed out traditional shamrock sprigs to the officers and guardsmen, who got a chance to speak briefly with the royal pair.

Sergeant Thomas Laven told reporters that he had told Middleton that he himself had a 7-month-old son, Theo, back at home.

“I congratulated her on the impending birth and said, ‘You’ve got sleepless nights to come,'” told reporters after the ceremony. “She said she was prepared for it.”

Afterward, a guardsman inside the Mons Barracks said he similarly congratulated the couple and ventured to ask if they had any names in mind for their baby-to-be.

“I asked if she had any names and she said no,” guardsman Lee Wheeler said, adding that the Duchess also claimed not to know the gender yet. “I said I suppose you’ve got to stick to traditional names.”

Middleton and William have so far remained mum about the gender of their first child. Earlier this month, the good-natured duchess appeared to nearly disclose the very important information during a visit to the National Fishing Heritage Centre on March 5.

After a local presented her with a white stuffed teddy bear, Middleton thanked her and said, “I’ll take that for my d–” before cutting herself off.
