Is a little princess on the way? While greeting well-wishers during a visit to the National Fishing Heritage Centre in Grimsby, England on Tuesday, March 5, Kate Middleton slipped up and hinted that she and husband Prince William may be expecting a baby girl — and part of it was caught on tape!
As Us Weekly reported on the exchange Tuesday, the expectant Duchess of Cambridge, 31, was given a teddy bear by a local, Diane Burton, and said, “Thank you, I’ll take that for my d–” but stopped herself mid-sentence.
In video released Wednesday (via ABC), an onlooker was recorded calling out the pregnant royal on her slip-up and asked, “Did you say my daughter?”
“Ahhh . . . no, no, no, no. I’m sure, I’m sure. We don’t know,” Middleton replied coyly with a smile on her face.
A source, however, confirmed to Us that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge did recently learn the sex of their baby, but privately. “They’ve only told their parents,” the source said.
If William and Kate are expecting a girl, their daughter would have the title of “Princess,” and referred to as Her Royal Highness, as stated in a new decree by Queen Elizabeth II.
Many also speculate that the couple would honor William’s late mother, Princess Diana, by naming their baby girl after her. “If the baby is a girl, one of those names will be Diana,” Robert Jobson, William & Kate: The Love Story author told Us. Making it even more special, William and Kate are expecting their baby in July, and the first of that month is Diana’s birthday.
