Katherine Heigl may be getting ready to check out, at last, from Grey's Anatomy.
Citing sources, Entertainment Weekly reports that the ABC show's creator, Shonda Rimes, has agreed to release Heigl from her contract; a final exit agreement still needs to be worked out.

Heigl had been on leave from the hit show while she tended to her film career as well as her newly- adopted daughter, Naleigh, but was scheduled to resume shooting episodes March 1.

EW.com reports the actress never appeared at the studio on or after that date , and she may end up not shooting any additional episodes. An ABC rep declined to comment.
The rising star's relationship with the series has been increasingly bumpy over the years. In 2008, Heigl pulled herself out of the running for the Emmys, complaining that that she wasn't given any "material...to warrant a nomination."

Last summer, she told David Letterman that the "17-hour work day" on the show was "cruel and mean."

Tell Us What You Think
40I don't think she is movie star quality.
I was so enamored with this woman when she first came on the scene. She's your all-american, fresh faced dream right? Until she speaks...OMG. Just Toxic. Every time she opens her mouth to give her oh-so important opinions, she's saying something nasty about someone or some "type" of people. She's textbook narcissist...so, to hear her talk she's perfect and it's everyone else who needs to clean up their act. What would make someone think that their fans care to hear that type of stuff? I don't watch anything that she is involved with now. I may actually consider tuning back in to Grey's, especially if they add in a Heigl-spoof (a beautiful all american egomaniac). Pretty and talented actresses are a dime a dozen. I guess she's supposed to be out there competing with the likes of Jennifer Anniston, Kate Hudson, Reese W, and Drew Barrymore for big star roles in comedy-dramas now? Seriously? Even if she is talented enough(maybe I just can't see past her mean, entitled attitude now), no matter how funny or good the movie is I cannot bring myself to sitting through anything she touches anymore. She's clearly one of those types of people who's absolutely miserable inside, so she's hell bent on making everyone else feel as miserable as she does. Stop talking up precious air time to trash other people all the time Katherine-surely you can find SOMEthing nice to say. Its just a major turn off for me. Hasta Heigl.
So glad she is leaving, don't like Heigl as any character, so be gone already from Grey's, your presence ruins my show.
I always liked Izzie on Grey's Anatomy. I have missed her and will continue to. I don't know all the facts, obviously, but am disappointed that it has not worked out. Grey's was a favorite. I have missed Burke and George. I know they had difficulties, but was hoping amends could be made. Too bad...I hope Katherine appreciates the great break she caught getting that role. It was a gift.
"Cruel & mean"? That is SO ridiculous. People work long hours and don't get paid nearly as much as her. She should stop her complaining and appreciate the show that helped boost her career. Actors can be so ridiculous and spoiled. Totally overpaid these people are.
As I watched Greys last night I thought to myself I didn't really care if she came back or not.
I like her in movies, but her character on Grey's has been SO annoying for a very long time. Can't stand her on Grey's. She's smart to go make movies - she's much more likable in her film roles.
Now is her time to go. Now that Dr. Karev is onto another doctor, Lexi Grey, Katherine Heigl wouldn't have much of a story line anyway. The marriage is over between Dr. Karev and her.
Who the hell does she think she is. Shonda Rimes made you a star and gave you a brake out role of a lifetime. I wish your character had died off instead of George. Katherine Heigl you are a negative, cancerous, ungrateful indivdual. Good riddance!!
Boo-Hoo..Wah-Wah-Way..17 hr days are CRUEL.Bet cashing that fat check wasn't torture.Bad actress anyway, if ya don't believe me watch 27 or 37 dresses, whatever that name is....she was awful!Knocked Up was good only because of Seth Rogen.
Good, she is annoying no matter what role she plays and I love Grey's but can't stand her.
I seriously do not like her very much. Without that show, she would not be a well known actress. Even if she is unhappy with the current status of her character, she should at least respect the show enough to say nothing at all. Her attitude is obnoxious and ungrateful. Not to mention, since her 'Denny' days she has done nothing wonderful for that show. I like it better without her on it.
Looks like someone has gotten too big for her britches. With her ungrateful, prima donna attitude, I believe it's best that she leaves for good. No on is fun being around when they think they're holier than thou.
good riddance!! i'm glad shes leaving because i could not stand her on the show and as a regular person. things she does and the way she acts arent things a good person is. i'm glad i finally get to enjoy greys without her on the screen!! :)
Well maybe she's sick of TV. If we all had the chance to go to movies I'd think we'd go for it. I thought her acting was dead on in The Ugly Truth.
With the new cool characters I haven't even wondered when Izzie was coming back. What Grey's needs now is a McSteamy and Callie relationship.
GOOD!!!!
Good News!!!! Now for the first time ever, I can watch this show. I've never liked her.
good, maybe I'll start watching it again...but who will be the one to cry in every episode...
Dear Katherine,be nice to people on the way up because you'll meet them again on the way down and don't bite the hand that fed you. That is all
