Kim Kardashian Drops Lawsuit After Site Apologizes for Claiming She Faked Paris Robbery

Kim Kardashian has dropped her lawsuit against MediaTakeOut.com after the website issued an apology on October 14 for claiming she faked her Paris robbery, according to the Daily Mail.

The news outlet reported that the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 36, filed a notice of voluntary dismissal of the lawsuit — without prejudice — on Monday, October 24, 10 days after the site apologized for its claims.

“After speaking to sources, including some connected to the Kardashians, and getting further details on the sequence of events — we are now confident and without a doubt believe that Kim Kardashian was robbed as was reported to the Paris police,” MediaTakeOut.com wrote in a statement posted on October 14. “Anyone who is still questioning it, is wrong.”

The message continued, “We can understand how reports questioning if the robbery in fact took place can be hurtful, and so we apologize. No one deserves to go through such a traumatic experience. Kim is not just [a] celebrity, she is a person, a wife and a mother — who in no way deserved what happened to her. We wish her the best as she emotionally recovers from the traumatic incident.”

As previously reported, Kardashian filed the federal lawsuit against the site and its owner, Fred Mwangaguhunga, on October 11. According to documents obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, the complaint claimed that Kardashian “returned to the United States only to be again victimized, but this time by an online gossip tabloid that published a series of articles in early October 2016 referring to her [as] a liar and thief.”

The reality star’s attorney, Andrew Brettler, also said in the documents that MediaTakeOut.com “claimed, without any factual support whatsoever, that Kardashian faked the robbery, lied about the violent assault, and then filed a fraudulent claim with her insurance company to bilk her carrier out of millions of dollars.”

Kardashian was robbed by a group of five armed men dressed as policemen inside her private residence at Hôtel de Pourtalès on October 3. The robbers stole more than $10 million in jewelry, including a $4.5 million diamond ring gifted by her husband, Kanye West.

The thieves are still at large, but a Paris police chief told Vanity Fair on Monday that he is “confident” they’ll be caught.
