One step at a time. Lamar Odom is currently still recovering in Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai hospital, but things are taking a turn for the better, a source tells Us Weekly.

“Lamar is doing better slowly but surely,” the source says of the former NBA star. “He is still working with lots of therapists. Every day he is relearning how to do more with his motor skills. He is cognitively aware of everything but [it’s] hard to process a lot at once.”

The source adds that the 35-year-old athlete (he’ll turn 36 tomorrow, Nov. 6) may be relocated to a rehab center next week, though “it is not definite yet.”

Things have been tense since Odom was first hospitalized in a Nevada hospital after being found unconscious in a legal brothel on Oct. 13. After being transferred to Cedars-Sinai, reports have surfaced that Odom’s estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian, has been keeping his own family away from his bedside.

“Lamar said he need space and wanted to be alone,” a source told Us of a supposedly heated moment on Oct. 23. “He told her to get out.”

A source close to 31-year-old Kardashian, however, denies that the reality star has been anything but loving since rushing to be by Odom’s side in Nevada.

Late last month, Kardashian spent some time away from the hospital to celebrate Kim’s camp-themed baby shower, and to try to work things out with boyfriend James Harden.
