He made it to the final five on Season 7 of Last Comic Standing, and now Mike DeStefano has died at 44.
"Our friend Mike passed away on March 6," a rep for the comedian tells UsMagazine.com. "We are indeed incredibly saddened by the loss of this amazing man."
A heart attack was the cause of death, reports, Punchline Magazine.
Much of DeStefano's humor stemmed from the hardships in his life, including overcoming drug addiction, the death of his wife, and living with HIV.
The Bronx native had recently finished a sold-out run of his one-man show, "Drugs, Disease and Death: A Comedy," at the Producer's club theater in NYC and was set to perform a new show, "A Cherry Tree in The Bronx," at the Barrow Street Theatre Wednesday Night.
"He had touched the lives of many with his unique brand of comedy and was looking forward to sharing the same with so many more," says the rep. "Mostly, we will all miss his huge heart and incredibly loving and selfless passion for people."
