The Glee cast and family took the time to remember their friend and costar Cory Monteith on Sunday, July 13—the one-year anniversary of his tragic death. Lea Michele, the late actor’s costar and girlfriend at the time of his death, took to Twitter to honor Monteith.
Posting a picture of the actor who portrayed football star Finn Hudson on the hit FOX show, Michele tweeted, “We hold you in our hearts today, and every day we remember your smile. We will love you and miss you always.”
Monteith was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room after an overdose from heroin and alcohol. The talented star was 31 at the time of his death.
Glee‘s Matthew Morrison also tweeted a tribute to his fallen costar, writing, “I personally believe Cory was reborn into some other beautiful form a year ago today. I celebrate him and his life… Wherever that may be. Happy Birthday my friend….I miss you.”
Glee creator Ryan Murphy shared a screenshot from Monteith’s tribute episode, “The Quarterback,” simply writing, “Miss you.”
