One big happy (modern) family! After coming out as gay in an article published in the New York Times on Friday, Nov. 29, Maria Bello shared a photo on Twitter of her family -- including ex-boyfriend Dan McDermott and new girlfriend Clare Munn.
"Giving thanks for my modern family," the 46-year-old actress captioned the photo on Saturday, Nov. 30. "Happy thanksgiving for whatever kind of family you have." In the family selfie, Bello poses with Munn, McDermott and their 12-year-old son Jackson. All four flash big smiles while sharing a group hug.
The Coyote Ugly star opened up about her sexuality in a heartfelt article, entitled Coming Out as a Modern Family, in the New York Times on Nov. 29. Bello explained how her love with longtime friend Munn evolved following her relationship with Jackson's TV executive father, McDermott. While looking through old photos of past relationships in her California garden, she decided to pursue a relationship with Munn. "It didn't occur to me, until that soul-searching moment in my garden, that we could perhaps choose to love each other romantically," she explained in her article.
Though she is now dating Munn, Bello said she will always have a close relationship with McDermott. "Jack's father, Dan, will always be my partner because we share Jack," she wrote. "Dan is the best father and the most wonderful man I've known."
After coming out as gay, Bello received a lot of support from her fans -- including Modern Family actress Julie Bowen.
"Yep, MF in title got my attention but Mario Bello's big brain and bigger heart wowed me in this wonderful article," the 43-year-old ABC sitcom star tweeted. Bello replied, "Thank you Julie. We love watching you in our house."
