"I had a time in my life when I was fine going from here to there, bam-bam-bam — healthy, fluent, single years. … When I saw the woman who is now my wife, I was at a club making margaritas at my table with friends,” he shared of meeting Alves in 2006. “When she walked in wearing this aqua dress, I went, ‘Whoa, what is that?’ … You can’t dial up that kind of woman. I have been very faithful with my wife, very selfishly,” the Dallas Buyers Club actor shared. “I like being under her spell. I don't want to break that spell."

The couple married in Austin June 2012 after getting engaged December 2011. Together they share kids Levi, 8, Vida, 6, and Livingston, 3.

During the recently published candid interview, the actor also discussed his father’s death and the time his dad taught him about sex.

"He goes, 'Hey, buddy, drop your pants. Let's see what you got.’ … It was a man-to-man, son-to-dad talk,” he told the magazine. “It was really cool and kind of took taboos off things." McConaughey added that his father, who passed away in 1992, died while “making love” to his mother and that “captures a lot of who my mom is.”

While on the topic of sex, he admitted that he lost his virginity when he was 15 or 16, but wouldn’t disclose with who. “It’s a great story but one I’m going to keep for myself,” he said.

He was more open about his now-infamous 1999 arrest. “I saw the cop’s eyes get big when he identified me, and it became, ‘Oh, look what we’ve got here,’” McConaughey recalled of the time a neighbor called the police because the actor was making noise while dancing around naked and playing bongo drums. “My first call was to my mother. I was feeling guilty because I was not raised to be in jail.”
