A judge expunged Mel Gibson's DUI arrest from his record Tuesday in Malibu, Calif.

The actor, 53, was pulled over by Malibu cops in July 2006 on suspicion of drunken driving. According to the arrest report, he hurled obscene and anti-Semitic remarks against police. He later pled no contest to misdemeanor DUI charges.

After completing the terms of his three-year probation, Gibson's lawyer filed paperwork on Sept. 21 of this year to have the charges dismissed.

Judge Lawrence Mira -- who approved the paperwork Tuesday -- noted that the conviction could still be used for "gun control purposes" and if the star is charged in any future DUIs.
