On Sunday, Aug. 24, the late Robin Williams was briefly honored in a tribute at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards. The beloved actor and Oscar winner was featured in a slideshow during the live telecast, which lasted less than 30 seconds. The tribute, which wasn’t introduced by a celeb presenter, followed the Artist to Watch award, and segued into a commercial break.

It was an awkward break in an evening that consisted of performances from Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, and Usher.
