Oh, how times have changed! Nick Jonas stopped by HuffPost Live on Tuesday, Sept. 16, to discuss his upcoming DirecTV series Kingdom — and those nude scenes! But on a more personal level, the former Jonas Brother-turned-model revealed he no longer wears his purity ring.
"This is a real growth in me and not something I'm doing anymore. But I've got my set of values, things that are important to me now at this point in my life and that's all that matters," the 22-year-old birthday boy said.
"I've had an incredibly intense journey with faith and religion and my own growth. My belief in God is still very strong and important to me as a person and I think that's all that should matter," he continued. "I grew up in a church environment and still have love for the church."
Jonas and his brothers Kevin and Joe famously donned the purity rings as a sign of chastity when they first rose to stardom. Beginning in 2010, however, rumors swirled that the New Jersey natives retired the bling. (The young hunk previously was linked to Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus and Aussie model Delta Goodrem. He's been dating former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo since 2013.)
Jonas' faith has remained the same in some aspects, and he's seen growth in his professional life, too. Since the Jonas Brothers split in October 2013, the former Disney star has signed with modeling agency Wilhelmina, began a solo singing career, and will next be stripping down for Kingdom. He's not worried that he's going against his faith by doing the racy scenes, though — even if he won't be watching those specific episodes with his family.
"What's important now is my relationship with God," he continued on HuffPost Live, "and that I not judge and that I not be judged."
