Orlando Bloom's marriage to Miranda Kerr may be over, but his belief in romance is still very much intact. In a new interview for Elle magazine's January issue, the Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug actor says he still has faith in the pull and power of true love.
"I'm completely in love with the idea of love. Maybe I'm all misty about it because I'm playing Romeo," he confessed. (Bloom just finished a run as the male lead in a Broadway revival of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet, opposite Condola Rashad's Juliet.)
He added: "But I really believe in, you know, that sort of heart-to-heart-connection."
Onscreen, at least, the 36-year-old hunk is the kind of romantic, swashbuckling hero many women dream about. But in real life?
"I'm sure I was a great disappointment to many women because I wasn't Errol Flynn," the Australian told the mag. "I'm me. I think that's got some merit."
The newly single star -- who has a 2-year-old son, Flynn, with former Victoria's Secret Angel Kerr, 30 -- also spoke to Elle about his upcoming crime movie Zulu, in which he reveals all by going full frontal.
"I got in the best shape of my life for that movie," he said. "It was quite amusing walking around set and seeing the crew avert their eyes at first. Then there were a few more people watching playback. I got so comfortable with it I could brush up behind someone and go, 'Oh , excuse me.'"
"It is what it is," he added. "It's flesh and bone. It's what we all are."
