On Tuesday, the Oscar-winning actress turns 47. In the 14 months since splitting from Jesse James, her husband of nearly six years, Bullock has forged a new life for herself as a single, working mom.

In January 2010, the Blind Side actress secretly adopted a baby boy, Louis Bardo, from New Orleans. Nicknamed her "Cajun Cookie," Bullock says she "got lucky" with her new addition.

The actress' Proposal costar, Ryan Reynolds, also split from his wife, Scarlett Johansson. On New Year's Eve 2011, Bullock and Reynolds, 34, were seen "partying the night away," according to an insider. "It looked like they had a great time!"
But the best thing in Bullock's life? Motherhood. "It's made me a better person," she told ABC News. "I really appreciate where I am."
