Whoops!
Sarah Jessica Parker accidentally called her husband Matthew Broderick "average" while describing how he compares to her 6-year-old son James Wilkie's height on the Late Show With David Letterman Tuesday night.

"[James Wilkie] is, for the moment, more on the diminutive side. Some might call it a Napoleon complex, it [his age] gives him some [confidence] because he is so mature. He's a brainiac... well I think so, naturally," Parker, 45, said while promoting her new flick, Sex and the City 2 (out Friday).

"'He's not quite tiny - that's on my husband's side - well, actually Matthew is average... not in personality or in intellect.... no, no, no, no, no," Parker continued, immediately trying to backtrack after she realized her backhanded comment.
"Let me clear this up. For the record, not in personality, intellect, charisma, talent, genuine likeability, well the list could go on and on," added the actress, who donned turquoise and black Nicholas Kirkwood shoes.
Parker then dug her hole deeper.

"Anyway he's average in height as I understand so the odds of our son being average in height and weight is perhaps promising," says Parker, who is 5-foot-3. Her husband, 48, is 5-foot-8.
Parker later joked that her boy had already been accepted to MIT. Quipped Letterman, "Even with an average father!"
Shaking her head, Parker said, "How am I ever gonna fix this?"
This isn't the first time Parker has inadvertently insulted her husband of 13 years, with whom she attended the SATC 2 premiere and after party Monday night. She forgot to thank him in a long-winded Emmys speech in 2004 in which she mentioned dozens of other people.

Tell Us What You Think
245 ft. 3 & 5 ft. 8 .. ahahahaaahahhahaa ya'll are hilarious SJP you ain't 5 ft. even with the heels honey .. & hubbt's a midget not average height sorry .... not that it's anything unusual in hollywierd.... biggest kept secret .. everyone a lil' dwarf punkin' head .. eww LAWD!
Well she is the ultimate f@g hag, I mean her hubby is as gay as they come!
Well she is lucky to have someone as decent as him as she is scary ugly. Actually, the picture in this article is the best I have ever seen her look, so maybe she can look better when she tries.
Matthew's as homely as they come. Just look at that mug. He's effing ugly. Yuck!
I'm with Cole - this is a dumb article; c'mon...Stevie Wonder could see what SJP meant! Besides, as far as I'm concerned this woman can do no wrong! I've been a fan since Square Pegs - my girlfriends and I are going to see the new movie, saw the last one (and bought it) and have ALL SATC eppies on DVD.
I'm sure she just meant he was average height but I think Matthew Broderick has more talent on his little finger than Sarah Jessica Parker has taste in clothes...Pat Fields is over-rated. Tacky, tacky clothes..made for drag queens.
he was so unbelievably cute in Godzilla! damn he used to be so hot, now it's just... so sad
Oh, whatever. I don't understand why she had to thank her husband at the Emmy's anyway. I don't thank my husband when I've done something great with my job. He doesn't thank me. Work is separate from home. Give me a break!
She is just worried that her son will be short which is normal given her own petite size. She is correct and her comments are reasonable that 5'8 is average for a guy, reasonable but not tall. She rocks, they are still married (and prob have tons of probs but who doesnt') them still being married says a lot, and this movie coming out this weekend is the BEST THING to happen to women moviegoers over 25 (myself included) in years. WE LOVE HER. WE LOVED SEX IN THE CITY. SHE ROCKS! She is obviously a devoted mother and a shrew businesswoman and knows what she wants in life. More real movies forthose of us who are not in juniorhigh please. The movies and TV out now so horrible... especially since there are none for women!
this is the dumbest article EVER
i think that is not accidental she is sl.ut wh.ore skkinky bia.tch
Typical for this mag to try to make something out of nothing..........
She did not insult her husband. She was talking about his height and he is average height. You are really trying to stir up mess aren't you, going back six years to talk about her not thanking her husband in 2004. Must be a slow new day.
I think it's pretty clear how she meant it. She was clearly talking about height when it was said so I don't see why this is a big deal?
Sarah - You didn't insult your husband you made a statement of fact as height goes he is on the average side and the media and other people need to quit making so much out of it. There is nothing there to insult your husband about. People grow up!
hahahahahahaha!! I would have to agree.....I imagine ole' Matthew Broderick is pretty much average in just about everything! LOL!
How dumb is this article? She clearly meant he is average height, which is absolutely nothing to write about. My husband is below average....height. Uh oh, someone sound the alarms. I called my husband "below average"!!!!! Stupid high school writers working at US Weekly.
SP, we know what you were saying. Don't worry. We all love both you and your husband. You give us hope for Hollywood marraiges!
I knew exactly was she meant. She was talking about height. Who on earth did not get that?? Why was this spun so ridiculously? Jeez, people need to find something better to do than pick apart words. She was describing her son's height then said her husband was average. Height was implied and should not have to be "cleared up". Nothing confusing there.
Love SJP! But she was talking about height to begin with, I am sure her hubby laughed and is making fun of her now.
