Now that she's the subject of a new criminal investigation regarding the alleged attack of Betty Ford employee Dawn Holland, how's Lindsay Lohan doing?
"Lindsay is OK now," a source close to the actress tells UsMagazine.com. The insider insists that the 24-year-old star and current rehab resident is innocent.
The source explains: "When [Lindsay] came back home [to the clinic] after seeing her friends -- which she was allowed to do -- the staffer pushed her and was fired."
Indeed, hours after blabbing about her alleged tussle with patient Lohan, chemical technician Holland was fired from Betty Ford for violating confidentiality laws, the facility told TMZ in a statement.
Adds the Lohan source of Holland: "The woman is nuts and jealous!"
Holland had claimed Lohan and two other patients had snuck out of the facility to drink; when Holland asked the actress to submit to a breathalyzer, Lohan pushed her, twisted her arm and "kept yelling and cursing and screaming" as Holland called the cops.
Holland later went to the emergency room and sustained injuries on her right hand from Lohan, she claims.
Lohan's attorney Shawn Chapman Holley suggests that's not what really happened. In a statement, Holley said: "At this time, we are declining to comment on the underlying facts surrounding this incident, as we await the completion of the police investigation."
The lawyer continues: "It should be noted, however, that it was Ms. Lohan who called 911 to request police assistance at the time this incident occurred."
The stakes are potentially sky-high for Lohan if she's found guilty of the assault. Although she was scheduled to leave Betty Ford on Jan. 3, L.A. Superior Court Judge Elden S. Fox vowed to send her to jail for up to six months if she violated her probation in any way.
