Susan Sarandon will always be the Louise to Geena Davis' Thelma! The Oscar winner's film career has spanned a remarkable 50 years, but Sarandon is perhaps best known for her role as Louise Sawyer in the 1991 classic Thelma & Louise.
Sarandon, now 68, played a waitress who runs into trouble with her housewife pal Thelma (Davis) during a two-day vacation. They escape in a 1966 Ford Thunderbird convertible, meet a hunk name J.D. (Brad Pitt), and end their travels with a bang — or, rather, a crash.
Sarandon and Davis, 58, made headlines when they recreated their Thelma & Louise selfie 23 years after the film's debut back in June.
Us Weekly caught up with Sarandon at the screening of The Hunger at the Museum of Modern Art's Celeste Bartos Theatre in NYC on Wednesday, Oct. 8. In our latest Now and Then series, find out what piece of clothing she may still have from set and what it was like to work with a relatively unknown Brad Pitt:
The selfie you recently recreated with Geena Davis was fantastic. What's your relationship like now?
"We stay in as much touch as we can. It's always good to see her and that was an amazing movie to make. I'm here on this coast and she's on the other, so that makes it a little difficult but we've kept in touch. I think we're going to do something for the big anniversary. That was a great connection to make."

Did you keep any souvenirs from set?
"I have tons of photos from set. I'll always have those. I used to have my boots but I'm not sure if I still do. I wonder where those are!"
Do you have a favorite moment from set?
"You know what I really liked? I had my family there with me and it was beautiful to be there on that desert, just working and enjoying the land. We got to stay on a ranch there, there were tons of small animals running around. It was a true getaway. Magical time."
Any memories from working with Brad Pitt?
"He was just a very smart and charming guy. You could tell there was something there from the very beginning. I don't remember everything about it but I remember that."
