Slow your roll! Taylor Kinney and Lady Gaga’s first interaction definitely wasn’t love at first sight. The Chicago Fire actor joked about how the singer slapped him the first time he kissed her during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
The hilarious — but really uncomfortable — moment happened when Kinney, 34, starred in Lady Gaga’s “You And I” music video in 2011.
“I showed up and [producers] said, ‘Oh, this is the idea.’ And I said, ‘Okay, just let me do my thing,'” he recalled to host Andy Cohen.
“And I remember I went up, and we’re rolling, and I kissed her and she didn’t expect it. They cut, and she slapped me. And then it was just awkward. And the next take, I just did it again and then she didn’t slap me,” Kinney said, laughing. “She didn’t slap me then.”
He continued: “We had a good time. I think there was chemistry. It was a late shoot. We were shooting until 4 or 5 in the morning — something like that. We exchanged information. A few weeks went by and we kept in touch and then that’s that.”
Indeed, the couple dated for four years before getting engaged this past February. Kinney popped the question with a gorgeous heart-shaped diamond ring on Valentine’s Day.
The twosome haven’t made any wedding plans yet, though. Kinney is currently shooting Season 4 of the NBC drama Chicago Fire, while Lady Gaga, 29, is starring in Season 5 of American Horror Story.
“We don’t have an exact date yet,” Kinney said Wednesday, noting that they are still deciding on whether to have a destination wedding or say “I do” in New York or L.A.
