Such a pretty kitty!

Taylor Swift is absolutely in love -- with her new kitten Meredith! But the 21-year-old country star didn't just randomly choose her cat's moniker: she named her after Ellen Pompeo's character on Grey's Anatomy.

"Her name is Meredith -- Meredith Grey because she's a gray cat, and because I love Grey's Anatomy!" she told Us Weekly in a phone interview Tuesday. Swift was home in Nashville gearing up for the CMAs Wednesday night, where she's nominated for Entertainer of the Year.

"She's awesome. She's like one of those cats that give cats a good name," Swift gushed. "She doesn't hide under furniture and get weird around people. She's really friendly and fun and she's perfect for the road because she doesn't ever get freaked out. So I'm really glad that she has a cool personality."

Meredith is a Scottish Fold cat, "so she has the awesome, weird ears," Swift explained. "I love it. She's so cute... She's a good cat."

Fellow cat-lover Katy Perry fell in love with Swift's new addition instantly. "OH MY GOSH!" Perry tweeted in response to a picture of Meredith. "Is this kitty for real?!?! I want to cuddle that kitten so hard!"

In addition to Meredith, Swift has two Dobermans: Bug and Baby. And while she might have an apartment full of animals to love, she is lacking that special guy.

"I don't have a boyfriend. I don't even have like kind of a boyfriend," she said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last month. "I don't have someone that I'm texting that is a guy that might someday be my boyfriend."
