Taylor Swift is a brilliant escape artist — and she knows it!

As Us Weekly exclusively reported last week, the 22-year-old singer-songwriter recently parted ways with beau Conor Kennedy after a few, intense months of dating.

In the December issue of Cosmopolitan, the single-again star (whose album, Red, sold a staggering 1.2 million copies this past week) boasts of her ability to end relationships that just aren’t working.

“I’ve learned when to get out,” says Swift, whose other exes include Jake Gyllenhaal, Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer and Cory Monteith. “I’ve never wasted too much time with the wrong person and that’s one thing I’m proud of.”

Some warning signs for Swift, which she’s learned to look out for after years of painful, often very public breakups? “I’ve had a lot of dark and twisty situations happen, enough to realize that when someone exhibits signs of evoking a dark and twisty relationship and dark and twisty feelings, it’s not interesting to me.”

She adds, without getting into specifics: “I can’t deal with someone wanting to take a relationship backward or needing space or cheating on you. I just don’t ever want to end up in a relationship that isn’t fair ever again.”

Still, the “We Are Never Ever Getting Back” together crooner remains un-cynical when it comes to looking for Mr. Right.

“I need that unexplainable spark . . .I just need to see someone and feel Oh, no, uh-oh. It’s only happened a few times in my life, but I feel like if I was gonna be with someone forever, it would be because I saw them and I thought, Oh, no.”

Although Swift is riding the incredible wave of her latest commercial success right now, she does see a different kind of future — in the far off distance, at least. “Being a mom full time, doing everything for my kids, having a bunch of them,” she says of post-fame life. “One day, I’m sure. But that’s the only other thing that could be as thrilling for me as doing this.”
